Mixpanel's machine learning model proactively analyzes your data and provides alerts when it surfaces insights that may be of interest. We look at Retention and Funnel reports on your Dashboards as well as saved Funnels and Retention reports viewed at least twice in the last 60 days. Automatic Segments can be found in the Notifications bell icon in the upper right hand corner of the UI as well as under the bell icon on Dashboard reports or saved reports.
From the global Notifications bell, clicking on an alert will take you to the relevant report where there will be a bubble highlighting the relevant data like this:

In saved Funnel and Retention reports, clicking on the bell icon will show a list of alerts and clicking on one will highlight the relevant segment like this:
What reports are analyzed for Automatic Segmentation?
Mixpanel analyzes all reports on the My Dashboard report, Funnels & Retention reports saved on Dashboards and viewed in the last 2 weeks and saved Funnel & Retention reports viewed in last 90 days.
Are there any restrictions on how many alerts I can receive?
Automatic Segmentation will prioritize alerts and show one relevant alert per week in the global Notifications bell. All Automatic Segments that are detected will appear under the bell icon in Dashboard reports and saved reports.
What does submitting feedback to Automatic Segments do?
You can submit feedback on Automatic Segments within the alerts under the bell icons. The feedback you provide is used to inform and improve the machine learning that powers Automatic Segmentation.
