Mixpanel Automatic Segmentation is a machine learning tool that will break down data in order to surface actionable insights. Mixpanel analyzes Retention and Funnel reports and automatically segments each in order to surface data that deviates from the norm, calling attention to data that may have otherwise been missed.

Accessing Automatic Segmentation
You can find Automatic Segments in the Notifications (bell icon) in the upper right hand corner of the UI, as well as under Notifications on Dashboard reports or saved reports.
From global Notifications , click an alert to the relevant report where a bubble highlights the relevant data:
In Dashboard reports, click Notifications to show a list of alerts. Click an alert to navigate to the relevant report where a bubble highlights the relevant data:
In saved Funnel and Retention reports, click Notifications to show a list of alerts. Click an alert to highlight the relevant segment:
Reports with Automatic Segmentation
Automatic Segmentation is present in:
- Funnels & Retention reports saved on Dashboards and viewed in the last two weeks will be analyzed as part of Automatic Segmentation.
Funnel & Retention
- Funnels and Retention reports viewed in last 90 days will be analyzed as part of Automatic Segmentation.
Automatic Segmentation Restrictions
Automatic Segmentation will prioritize alerts and show one relevant alert per week in the global "Notifications" bell. All Automatic Segments that are detected will appear under Notifications in Dashboard reports and saved reports.
You can submit feedback on Automatic Segments within the alerts under Notifications. The feedback you provide is used to inform and improve the machine learning that powers Automatic Segmentation.
